Lutheran Women in Mission (LWML) – Lake Minnetonka Zone
Lutheran Women in Mission is an outreach for ALL women. We seek to develop and maintain a greater mission consciousness among women of the LCMS through education, inspiration, and service. We connect at quarterly gatherings for mission presentations and gifts of the heart service projects. There are also exciting opportunities to attend the MN South District and National conventions to grow and stretch our faith as we connect with Christian women from around the country.
Our Purpose
- Inspire and equip women to share their faith in Jesus Christ, their loving Savior.
- Be enriched through Bible study and fellowship.
- Minister to others using our God-given talents inside and outside of our Church community.

Mites and Missions
Our major emphasis continues to be the support of mission and ministry throughout the world by means of Mite Box offerings. These Mite Box offerings have funded tens of millions of dollars in national and district mission grants since the organization’s inception in 1942.
Mite boxes are located at Zion’s Visitor Center. Pick one up and place your box in a special place at home. Put your pennies in the box at the end of each day or put a “thank you” with an appropriate amount whenever you receive a special blessing or regularly empty all your loose change from your coin cup. When your mite box is full, return to Zion’s visitor center.
The Widow’s Mite
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything — all she had to live on” (Mark 12:41–43)
